International Nurse’s Day 2023
Our amazing nursing team have been presented with gifts for International Nurse’s Day today.
Thank you to all of our staff for everything they do and today a special thank you to all of our nurses for providing such wonderful care to all of our residents and patients.
Forget Me Not Club
Two of our staff launched a new Forget Me Not Club this week as part of their role as Dementia Champions. They had a chat with some of our residents using items from our dedicated memory box and held discussions around baking day and having milk from glass bottles at school.
Thank you to Oak Class at Weston Hills School for their beautiful cards
The children in year 1 and 2 (Oak Class) at Weston Hills Church of England Primary School very kindly made some pictures and cards for our residents and staff as part of their RE work. This term they have been looking at ‘Thankfulness.’
As part of their learning they had to think about how they could give gifts rather than saying thank you for gifts. The children decided they would draw pictures and make cards for residents and staff at Holbeach Hospital.
The residents were delighted to receive them and they brought lots of smiles and brightened everyone’s day, so the staff and residents at Holbeach Hospital would like to say a big thank you to the children of Oak Class and Mrs Nicholls at Weston Hills school who organised it.
Holbeach Hospital receives Platinum award for end of life care
We are delighted to announce that Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital Trust has once again reached Platinum level for our end of life care with the Gold Standards Framework.
This is a very meaningful award that the whole team have worked hard for and can be very proud of.
Pancake Day Delights
Our residents had a lovely afternoon celebrating Shrove Tuesday with pancakes topped with sugar and lemon juice, and St. David’s day with some beautiful daffodils from our gardens.
Staff and Residents Treated to Fish and Chip Supper
We were overwhelmed by the kindness of a local business – The Hungry Plaice who donated freshly cooked fish and chips for our residents and staff to enjoy, even coming back in the evening to ensure our evening staff didn’t miss out. The residents really enjoyed having authentic fish and chips and it was a lovely treat for our staff. Georgina contacted us because she wanted to thank the hospital for the care her dad received and thought now would be an ideal time to show an act of kindness during Kindness Week and National Smile Week. Thank you so much it definitely put a smile on our residents and staff’s faces and the fish and chips were amazing! https://www.the-hungryplaice.uk/
Coop Community Champions
We are always overwhelmed by the kindness of our local community and their support. We were nominated to be a Coop Community Champion last year and have now received a cheque for an amazing £1,180 to be put towards the creation of a hobby lounge for our residents.
Residents Christmas Party
Everyone had a wonderful time at the Residents and Family Christmas party, with a special visit from Father Christmas and his Elf, Sharon and PAT cat Ouzo, Caroline and PAT dog Chloe and singing from Helen Verney.
Donation to Jerry Greens Dog Rescue Centre
Jackie and Maggie, our Activities Coordinators, have been running a collection in aid of a local dog rescue centre. They asked for donations of treats, food , toys and blankets that could be donated to the dogs spending their Christmas at Jerry Greens Dog Rescue Centre. They received lots of donations which they were able to hand over to the centre just before Christmas. We hope the dogs enjoy their new treats, toys and blankets. Many of our residents like to knit so to encourage them to continue their hobby we often take donations of knitted blankets to the dogs as well to keep them warm.
