Glowing Reports for Holbeach Hospital
Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital Trust is celebrating after receiving good news from both the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the Gold Standards Framework.
The Hospital, which provides accommodation for up to 38 people requiring nursing or personal care for older people and people with physical disabilities, was inspected by the CQC at the end of October and has just received a glowing report following the inspection.
“There was a warm, relaxed atmosphere in the home and staff supported people in a kind and friendly way.”
The home was rated as “good” in all 5 areas: safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership.
“Staff provided person-centred care in a warm and friendly way.”
Dignified and compassionate care, as well as strong positive leadership were highlighted in the report:
“Throughout our inspection, the registered manager demonstrated a positive and forward-looking approach…The registered manager provided strong yet compassionate leadership to her team and was clearly appreciated by staff.”
Shortly before the inspection, the Hospital had received “Beacon” status under the nationally recognised Gold Standards Framework in recognition of the quality of end of life care provided in the home. The award recognises the Hospital’s caring and sensitive approach to palliative care.
Beacon status is the highest level of award that can be achieved. The Gold Standards award recognises how well the hospital cares for end of life residents and the hard work and commitment of all staff to provide the highest levels of care.
Manager, Maxine Winch, paid tribute to the team effort behind the award:
“All of the staff are proud to provide care to our residents. We take seriously the dignity and needs of all of those in our care. We form relationships that grow over months and sometimes years. When a resident dies we remember the time they spent with us”
